Project Description
Finland’s largest construction company, YIT, has developed a Smart Building concept that improves the comfort, productivity, and eco-friendliness of buildings by integrating the data from all technical systems onto a single platform.
Our Input
Together with YIT, Granlund created Smart Building design guidelines to effectively implement the concept. The guidelines, including technical and functional specifications as well as operating instructions, ensure that technical systems in construction projects are designed and built to meet the Smart Building requirements. The guidelines cover the whole property life cycle from design, supplier selection and construction to use and maintenance.
The property management in the Smart Building concept is based on Granlund Manager software, which provides a real-time view of the energy efficiency and maintenance of the property.
Key Features
In YIT’s pilot project in Helsinki, the Smart Building sensors collect data on energy consumption, indoor conditions and people’s movements, the routes they take within the office and the use of the meeting rooms. Via a mobile application, office users can book workstations and meeting rooms as well as indicate when they are in the building. The data is used, for example, in optimising the building’s ventilation and the number of meals prepared by the building’s restaurant.
