Project Description
The project was situated on a greenfield site, within the Grangecastle campus and contained an administration block and RMC (Remote Monitoring Centre). The RMC was to be utilised initially, as a control monitoring HUB for other data centres located in the EMEA region.
The site was developed and expanded as required on a phased basis with the first phase consisting of 4 No. 4.4MW COLO’s and associated electrical support rooms (Electrical Rooms, MDF Rooms, MV Rooms etc).
Our Input
Upon successful design completion of works to previous client projects (Phase 4 Commissioning and Phase 5 Design Consultancy), Ethos Engineering were retained and appointed as Mechanical and Electrical Design Consultants for Phase 6.
The role also included the master-planning of the site for future development with a projected critical load of 120MW. The primary infrastructure including the 110kV substation has been completed for the site.
Key Features
The cooling was achieved by an all air cooling system, utilising air side economisers (outside air) to cool the server and electrical spaces. Some areas (MDF Rooms) had additional DX Cooling provided.
